If you get a chance to visit Oldham, you should try Llama Trekking! It's got to be one of the best ways to see the Saddleworth Moors.

Higher Oxhey Farm in Denshaw, high on Saddleworth Moor, is home to a Llama Trekking Centre and Animal Farm which includes rare breed chickens, pigs, Herdwick sheep and lots of others including the very rare Mangalitza and Curly Coated pigs. Llama Trekking is walking side by side with the animals over the beautiful saddleworth Moors. Tours of the Animal Farm can be booked independently and this can include talks on the animals and hands-on activities.

    Treks include:

2 Hour Treks - This is a lovely easy walk around Oxhey Top and Heights Church in Delph. There are great views and lots of wildlife to see. Great for children or those who just want to experience walking a llama. Bring a picnic and have it on route or you are welcome to picnic at the farm.

I have to admit, I didn't think I would like trekking around with a llama but you tend to grow fond of the creatures during the tour.

Give it a go if you come to Oldham. You won't regret the experience!
